Best Head-Up Display for Subaru Outback, Forester, and WRX

Does Subaru Have a Heads-Up Display? (2026 Models Checked) + Best Add-On HUDs

No — no 2026 Subaru has a factory head-up display. We checked subaru.com’s 2026 specifications for all ten US models, trim by trim, and none lists a HUD. The good news: adding one takes about five minutes and no wiring. Here is what each model has instead, and which add-on HUD suits your Subaru.

What about the EyeSight Assist Monitor?

Some earlier Subarus had an EyeSight Assist Monitor: coloured warning lights reflected at the bottom of the windshield. It is often mistaken for a HUD, but it never shows your speed, Subaru does not call it a head-up display, and it is not listed for any 2026 model.

Best add-on HUD for your Subaru

Which one fits depends on the powertrain, because OBD2 gauges don’t support every car:

  • Gas Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Impreza, Ascent, WRX or BRZ (2007 and newer): the wiiyii P6 adds RPM, coolant temperature and voltage next to your speed. Its listing covers OBD2 cars from 2007 on and excludes hybrids and diesels.
  • Forester Hybrid, Crosstrek Hybrid, or the Solterra, Trailseeker and Uncharted EVs: choose a GPS-based unit. The KUOWEIHUD K1 gives accurate speed in any vehicle.
  • Want directions in your sight line: the VIVIHUD V5 mirrors wireless CarPlay or Android Auto navigation onto its own lens and works in any Subaru, including hybrids and EVs. It shows no engine data.

WRX drivers: RPM in your peripheral vision

The WRX rewards smooth, informed throttle use, and RPM is the gauge WRX drivers glance at most. On a gas WRX that its listing supports, the wiiyii P6 shows RPM alongside speed and coolant temperature, so the three numbers sit in one place.

Where to mount it in an EyeSight Subaru

EyeSight’s stereo cameras sit at the top of the windshield behind the rear-view mirror, and Subaru advises keeping that area clear. Mount any HUD low on the dash, well away from the cameras. Check your model’s OBD2 port location with the HUD Compatibility Checker.

Frequently asked questions

Does Subaru have a heads-up display?

No. None of Subaru's ten 2026 US models — Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Impreza, Ascent, WRX, BRZ, Solterra, Trailseeker and Uncharted — offers a factory head-up display on any trim, according to subaru.com's 2026 specifications. An aftermarket HUD is the only way to add one.

Does the Subaru Outback have a heads-up display?

No. The new-generation 2026 Outback has a 12.3-inch configurable digital instrument cluster but no head-up display on any trim, from Premium to Wilderness, according to subaru.com's 2026 specifications.

Does the Subaru Forester have a heads-up display?

No. The 2026 Forester, including the Forester Hybrid, has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster but no factory head-up display on any trim.

Does the Subaru WRX have a heads-up display?

No. The 2026 WRX does not offer a factory head-up display. An OBD2 HUD that shows RPM is a popular add-on for WRX drivers, provided its listing supports the car.

Is the EyeSight Assist Monitor a heads-up display?

No. Some earlier Subarus had an EyeSight Assist Monitor — coloured warning lights reflected at the bottom of the windshield. It never shows speed, Subaru does not call it a head-up display, and it is not listed for 2026 models.

Does Subaru EyeSight interfere with a head-up display?

Not if you mount the HUD low on the dash. EyeSight's stereo cameras sit at the top of the windshield behind the rear-view mirror; keep any accessory away from that area.
