Only a few Fords do. In the US, a factory head-up display is offered on the F-150 (2024 on), Super Duty (2023 on) and Escape (2020 on), on upper trims. The Explorer, Expedition, Bronco, Ranger, Maverick, Mustang, Mach-E and F-150 Lightning don’t have one. Lincoln offers a HUD on the Aviator and Corsair, and had one on the 2018–2024 Navigator and the Continental. Here is every model, with years and trims.

Based on Ford and Lincoln US owner’s manuals (“Head Up Display (If Equipped)” chapters), order guides and Ford press releases, checked October 2026. Packages change by model year: check the window sticker. Comparing brands? See every 2026 car with a factory heads-up display.
Two things that aren’t a HUD
- The red warning light bar. Some Ford and Lincoln manuals (MKZ, MKX, Continental and others with collision warning) call it “Heads Up Display”: a red row of lights reflected on the windshield when adaptive cruise or collision warning needs your attention. It doesn’t show speed or navigation.
- Panoramic dash screens. The 2025+ Expedition’s 24-inch display and the 48-inch displays on the 2024+ Nautilus and 2025+ Navigator sit at the base of the windshield, but nothing is projected. Lincoln’s design director told The Drive they “found something better” than a HUD for the new Navigator.
How to turn the HUD on in a Ford or Lincoln
- F-150 (2024+), Super Duty (2023+), 2025 Aviator: “Using the instrument cluster display controls on the steering wheel, select HUD”, then switch Head-Up Display on or off. The same menu has Content, Brightness, Vertical position, Image rotation and Drive mode layout (Normal, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, and Baja on the Raptor). “If HUD On is unchecked, other options of the system are hidden.”
- Escape (2023+): press the menu button on the steering wheel, select Head-Up Display (HUD) and switch it on. The 2020 Escape has a HUD button on the steering wheel.
- Navigator and Corsair (2018–2024): use the steering-wheel instrument cluster controls to open the head up display menu, then HUD > HUD On.
HUD settings are saved with the memory-seat presets. Ford’s 2025 F-150 manual notes that polarized sunglasses can make the image hard to see. If the message “Head Up Display System Fault See Manual” appears, check that nothing is covering the display; “Head Up Display To Position” means the image needs moving in the HUD menu.
Windshield replacement: Lincoln manuals say HUD vehicles need “a certified original equipment manufactured (OEM) head up display windshield”, because a non-HUD windshield “causes a double image or distorted image”. The Escape’s pop-up screen doesn’t depend on the windshield. More in our HUD windshield replacement guide.
No factory HUD? Add-on options for Fords
Most Ford buyers are in trucks and SUVs, and plug-in OBD2 HUDs often exclude pickups, so pick by vehicle:
- F-150, Super Duty, Ranger, Maverick (pickups), Mach-E, Lightning (EVs) and hybrids: use a GPS unit such as the KUOWEIHUD K1, which works in any vehicle with a USB port, or the VIVIHUD V5 for CarPlay or Android Auto navigation.
- Gas Explorer, Edge, Escape, Mustang and other gas cars and SUVs from 2007 on: the wiiyii P6 adds RPM, coolant temperature and voltage. Check its listing’s exclusions first.
