SUVs With a Heads-Up Display in 2026: Compact to Full-Size, EVs Included (HUDScreen)

SUVs With a Heads-Up Display in 2026: Compact to Full-Size, EVs Included

Plenty of SUVs offer a factory heads-up display, and not just luxury ones. The Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, Nissan Rogue, Hyundai Palisade and Mazda CX-5, CX-50 and CX-90 all offer one on at least some versions, according to Honda, dealers or Cars.com’s latest roundup.

The catch is the trim. The HUD usually comes on upper versions. The 2026 Honda Pilot, for example, gets it as standard only on the Elite and Black Edition. Below, every SUV on the most recent HUD roundup is sorted by size class, with the trim that gets the display wherever a manufacturer or dealer names it. If your SUV isn’t on the list, skip to the add-on options at the end.

Quick answer: the 2026 SUVs with a heads-up display

In the mainstream segment, this is where the HUD shows up:

 • Honda Pilot — standard on the 2026 Elite and Black Edition, according to Honda.
 • Kia Telluride — on the SX and SX Prestige, per a Kia dealer.
 • Nissan Rogue — standard on Platinum, per a Nissan dealer.
 • Hyundai Palisade and Mazda CX-5, CX-50 and CX-90 — on Cars.com’s latest model-year HUD list.

The trim matters more than the nameplate. A HUD sits on mid and upper trims far more often than on base models, so the tables below focus on which version you need to buy.

How this list was put together

Most models come from Cars.com’s most recent HUD roundup, which covers the 2025 model year. We kept SUVs only and left out sedans, pickups and vans such as the Kia Carnival and VW ID. Buzz.

Trim details come from two kinds of source:

 • Manufacturer pages, such as Honda’s 2026 Pilot page.
 • Franchised dealers, for Kia, Nissan, Chevrolet and Toyota.

Where no source names the trim, the tables show “—”. Packages can change between model years, so confirm the exact trim in the manufacturer’s build-and-price tool before you sign.

For sedans and other body types, see our full list of cars with a factory HUD. Our editorial methodology explains how we source pages like this one.

 • Full-size and off-road — Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, Armada and more
 • Electric and hybrid — Ioniq 5, EV9, Equinox EV, Ariya, Prologue, Polestar 3 and more

Add-on HUDs for SUVs without a factory display

Compact and subcompact SUVs with a HUD

Our sources name the HUD trim for only two compact models:

 • Nissan Rogue — a dealer source says the HUD is optional on the SL through the SL Premium Package. That makes the Rogue the clearest way to get a HUD without buying the top trim.
 • Toyota RAV4 — only the Plug-in Hybrid appears on Cars.com’s 2025 list, and a Toyota dealer’s 2026 HUD inventory includes it. The RAV4 is redesigned for 2026, so check the grade you want on Toyota’s site.

Full-size and off-road SUVs with a HUD

Most full-size SUVs offer a HUD. A Chevrolet dealer lists the 2026 Tahoe and Suburban among Chevy’s HUD models, and a Toyota dealer’s HUD-filtered inventory already includes the 2027 Land Cruiser.

BMW X7 and XM — Cars.com (2025)
Mercedes GLS — Cars.com (2025)

Two big names are missing from Cars.com’s 2025 SUV list: the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. Check our Ford and Lincoln page before you assume either has a HUD.

Off-roaders, note one gap: the Jeep Wrangler isn’t on the list. More on that in the no-HUD section below.

Electric and hybrid SUVs with a HUD

EV shoppers do well. Electric SUVs on Cars.com’s 2025 HUD list span almost every budget:

 • Mainstream — Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV9, Chevrolet Blazer EV and Equinox EV, Honda Prologue, Nissan Ariya
 • Luxury — Genesis GV60, Audi Q4 e-tron and Q6 e-tron, BMW iX, Mercedes EQB, EQE SUV and EQS SUV, Cadillac Optiq and Escalade IQ, Lexus RZ, Jeep Wagoneer S, Polestar 3 and 4, Volvo EX90, Porsche Macan Electric

Where dealers name the details:

 • Chevrolet Equinox EV — a Chevrolet dealer lists it in Chevy’s 2026 HUD line-up.
 • Nissan Ariya — a Nissan dealer places the HUD on its top trims.

At the extreme end, Edmunds reports that the Lotus Eletre has a 29-inch head-up display.

Tesla and Rivian have their own pages: Does Tesla have a heads-up display? covers the Model Y and Model X, and our Rivian page covers the R1S and R2.

Hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs

 • Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid — on the Cars.com list and in a dealer’s 2026 HUD inventory.
 • Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid — in the same dealer inventory.
 • Kia Sorento Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid — HUD on the SX Prestige, per a Kia dealer.

If your EV or hybrid has no HUD, choose the add-on carefully. The OBD2 unit we cover is listed for gas cars and excludes hybrids. Our EV head-up display guide explains what does fit.

Windshield, combiner or AR: which kind of HUD you're getting

Factory HUDs aren’t all built the same way. Cars.com describes two main designs:

 • Combiner — the simplest systems show data on a clear plastic panel that pops up from the dash.
 • Windshield projection — more complex systems project onto the windshield, so the image appears to float ahead of the car.

Brochures also mention “augmented reality” HUDs, which aim to place navigation graphics over the road ahead. Ask which type your trim uses, since it affects how natural the display feels. For the optics, read how a head-up display works.

The idea isn’t new: the first US production car with a HUD was the 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, according to Cars.com.

What to check on a test drive

 • Position — can you adjust the image to your seating height?
 • Daylight brightness — is it readable in full sun, not just in the showroom?
 • Polarized sunglasses — wear your usual pair. Some HUDs dim or vanish through polarized lenses. Our glare guide covers this.
 • Phone navigation — ask whether CarPlay or Android Auto directions appear in the HUD, or only the car’s own navigation. See CarPlay and Android Auto HUDs.

The hidden cost: windshield replacement

A windshield-projection HUD needs HUD-compatible glass. The wrong replacement windshield can leave you with a double or blurry image. Tell your insurer or glass shop about the HUD up front. Our windshield replacement guide explains what to ask for.

Popular SUVs missing from the factory HUD list

Several popular SUVs were missing from Cars.com’s 2025 HUD roundup:

 • Toyota RAV4 (gas and regular hybrid) — only the Plug-in Hybrid appears. See our Toyota page.
 • Honda CR-V and Passport — in Honda’s SUV range, the HUD shows up on the Pilot and Prologue. See our Honda page.
 • Subaru SUVs — none appear, despite claims elsewhere. Our Subaru page checks each model.
 • Jeep Wrangler — not listed, though other Jeeps are. See the Wrangler HUD guide.
 • Ford Explorer and Bronco — neither appears.
 • Kia Sportage — not listed, while the Telluride and EV9 are.

Specs can change with a new model year, so check the manufacturer’s spec page for the trim you want.

Already own one, or would rather not step up a trim? An add-on unit is the practical fix. Our factory vs aftermarket HUD comparison helps you decide whether the upgrade is worth it.

No HUD on your SUV? Add-on options that actually fit

Pick the add-on by what powers your SUV. Many popular SUVs are hybrids or Jeeps, and that rules some units out.

GPS speed display: fits any SUV

The KUOWEIHUD K1 takes its speed from GPS satellites, so it never touches the OBD2 port. It runs on plug-and-play USB power, adjusts its brightness automatically and shows speed in a large font. It fits virtually any vehicle — a RAV4 Hybrid, a Wrangler, a diesel or an EV.

Suits: drivers who mainly want speed in their line of sight. Skip it if: you want engine data or navigation.

CarPlay and Android Auto HUD: closest to a factory system

Turn-by-turn directions are what owners value most in factory HUDs. The VIVIHUD V5 mirrors them from wireless CarPlay or Android Auto. It also shows GPS speed, trip time and distance, and an overspeed warning at a limit you set.

It projects onto its own anti-glare lens (a combiner), not the windshield. The OBD cable supplies power only; a cigarette-lighter cable is also included. Because it’s GPS-based, the manufacturer lists it for virtually any vehicle, including hybrids and EVs. It’s about 10 inches wide, so you need a flat stretch of dash.

Suits: commuters and road-trippers who want navigation. Skip it if: your dashboard is steeply curved.

OBD2 + GPS display: engine data for gas SUVs

The wiiyii P6 reads speed, RPM, water temperature and voltage from the OBD2 port, with GPS as a second source. It has an overspeed alarm and projects onto the windshield.

Check fitment first. The manufacturer’s listing covers 2007-and-newer OBD2 vehicles but excludes hybrids, diesels, pickups, RVs and some brands, including Jeep.

Suits: owners of gas SUVs who want engine awareness. Skip it if: you drive a hybrid, a diesel or a Jeep.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest SUV with a heads-up display?

Among mainstream compact SUVs, the Nissan Rogue is the clearest lower-trim route: a Nissan dealer lists the HUD as optional on the SL through the SL Premium Package. The Mazda CX-30 and CX-5 and the Hyundai Tucson are also on Cars.com's HUD list, but expect a mid or top trim rather than the base model.

Does the Toyota RAV4 have a heads-up display?

On Cars.com's 2025 list, only the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid has a HUD, and a Toyota dealer's 2026 HUD inventory includes the Plug-in Hybrid. The RAV4 is redesigned for 2026, so check the grade you want on Toyota's site and see our Toyota page.

Does the Honda CR-V have a heads-up display?

The CR-V isn't on Cars.com's 2025 HUD list, even though some websites claim it has one. Honda confirms a HUD for the 2026 Pilot Elite and Black Edition, and the Prologue is on Cars.com's 2025 list. See our Honda page for the full line-up.

Do heads-up displays work with polarized sunglasses?

Not always: with some HUDs, the image dims or disappears through polarized lenses. Wear your usual sunglasses on the test drive, and see our glare guide for workarounds.

Can I add a heads-up display to my SUV?

Yes. A GPS unit fits any SUV, including hybrids, EVs, diesels and Jeeps; a CarPlay or Android Auto HUD adds navigation; and OBD2 units suit gas SUVs on their fitment list. The HUD Compatibility Checker tells you which type works with yours.

Does a factory HUD make windshield replacement more expensive?

It adds a requirement: a windshield-projection HUD needs HUD-compatible glass, or the image can appear doubled or blurry. Mention the HUD when you book the replacement, and see our windshield replacement guide.
